This is a concept that came to me the other day as I was taking a mental health drive past the lake.
To me being whimsically depressed means finding the little things that bring even a little bit of happiness into the dark cloud that is your depression.
Doing something that adds a little bit of whimsy to your life.
My whimsical depression looks like painting my nails a color that I like or taking a drive to the beach because I am blessed to live by the beautiful Lake Michigan.
It can also include things like cutting your peanut butter and jelly (your first and only meal of the day) into the shape of a dinosaur with the sandwich cutout you got from the back-to-school section at the store.
Maybe being whimsically depressed means getting a new sticker for your water bottle at your favorite boutique downtown.
Adding whimsy into your life doesn’t always have to be big or expensive. Being whimsical is just looking for the rainbow lining instead of just the silver one.
I challenge myself and you, my reader, to look for that rainbow lining and add a bit of whimsy into your depression cloud.
Thank you for reading! I haven’t written in a while so if you read this post and find me on instagram @livingituphalfheartedly. Tag me in a picture of your rainbow lining. What does whimsically depressed look like for you?
