I recently read the book “Everyone in this room will someday be dead” by Emily Austin and let me tell you…it was like someone took my brain and put it on paper. I mean I do that on this blog but reading a fiction book about a fictional character written by someone else and being able to relate so much to them…it was crazy!
This post is not really going to be a review of the book…only my thoughts so I guess maybe it is.
Anyway, the book is about this character named Gilda, she has anxiety and depression…and is jobless because of it. She accidentally gets a job at a church as their new secretary after their previous secretary dies and throughout the book is dealing with her mind while also dealing with religion, relationships, and life in general.
The whole book is a look into the thoughts and thought processes of someone with anxiety and depression. I think it is a wonderful depiction of both. Emily Austin truly captured the essence of what life is like as that person. That person that worries about everything, that person that can’t just make themselves better. That person that is trying.
I definitely recommend giving it a read. Murder mystery, self discovery, queer representation and humor all wrapped up into one thought provoking book.
