Summer Drive

The wind courses through my hair as I wave my hand up and down surfing it . The sun warms my skin and I close my eyes. The sound of my summer playlist drifts from the car radio. My sister and I laugh at a comment she made and I open my eyes to look at the passing scenery. Large houses with long gated driveways zoom past and I imagine who may live there. We talk and laugh over the blaring music not wanting to turn it down even if it means we could hear each other better. We drive and drive. No maps, no gps just instinct. She slows the car as we come around a curve to a stop. “Right or left?” She asks. I hesitate for a few seconds. “Left” I exclaim happily. She makes a left turn and we continue along the unknown path. Where will we end up? What will we find? We don’t know. But that, that is the exciting part.
