Rain

Rainy days…there is something so romantic and mysterious about them. Yes I may just be a hopeless romantic with a flare for the dramatic, but even if you aren’t you can still agree. Right?

Picture this…the rain slowly hitting the glass window as you gaze outside at the water drenched earth. A half finished book open on your lap, you pull a soft wool blanket around your shoulders and breath in the bitter scent of the coffee in the mug next to you. The sound of violins drifts in through the doorway as your record player skips a note. You lean your head back and close your eyes allowing your other senses to take over. At that moment you are content, happy. The soft pattering of the rain on the window lulls you to sleep…

See I told you…oh no? That didn’t convince you? Maybe you need to watch more period dramas! There is always a very dramatic life altering scene that takes place in a rain storm…Pride and Prejudice…the proposal? Exactly my point. Rain is such an amazing thing to me. Why you may ask well…It keeps plants and animals alive but if in abundance it can destroy everything in its path. Now there is nothing romantic about floods but it shows you how powerful rain can be. That is where the mysterious aspect of rain comes in. It is powerful enough to destroy yet gentle enough to sustain life. That goes for large bodies of water as well. Take the ocean for example, all the creatures that rely on it to live see it as gentle yet when a storm comes it turns into a potential danger to those on land.

If you couldn’t tell I am fascinated by water in all its forms.
